1. M.Sc in Botany
B.Sc. degree of this University with Botany (main/core) or Plant Science (main/core) or Applied plant science (main/core) or an *equivalent degree of any other Universities with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade for Part III (excluding subsidiaries). The mode of admission will be solely based on the marks secured in the entrance examination conducted by the University. A total of 25 seats are available. The duration of the course shall be 2 years from the date of commencement of the course.
2. Integrated M.Sc. in Botany
Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent there to with Biology as a compulsory paper. The mode of admission will be solely based on the marks secured in the entrance examination conducted by the University. A total of 20 seats are available. The duration of the course shall be five years from the date of commencement of the course.
3. PGDCTAH
Candidates who have passed the Master’s Degree in Plant Sciences/Botany/Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Agricultural Sciences; bachelor’s Degree in Plant Sciences/ Botany/Life Sciences/Agricultural Sciences; M.Voc in any of the life science-related fields of the University of Calicut or an equivalent degree from any other University/ Institution, recognised by the University of Calicut with a minimum aggregate of 55 percent marks or equivalent grade. For SEBC and physically challenged candidates, the aggregate marks required for the qualifying examination is 50%. For SC/ST candidates, a minimum pass in the qualifying examination will be sufficient. The mode of admission will be solely based on the marks secured in the entrance examination conducted by the University. A total of 10 seats are available. The duration of the course shall be 1 year from the date of commencement of the course.
4. Ph.D. in Botany & Environmental Science
Candidates who have qualified MSc Botany/Plant Science (Post-graduate Degree in any science subjects for Environmental Science) offered by the University of Calicut or any other University with at least grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale or equivalent or at least 55% marks are eligible for admission. Candidates who have passed M.Phil. degree (before 2023) with a minimum of grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale with at least 55% marks in aggregate or it's equivalent is also eligible to take the admission. Admission to PhD is based on an entrance examination conducted by the University. The ranking would be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and a subsequent interview for the candidates who qualified the entrance examination. The final admission decision will be based on an overall performance. Candidates who qualify UGC-NET/JRF, UGC-CSIR-NET/JRF, SLET, GATE, and other research fellowships of Central and State Government departments/ agencies as approved by the University will be exempted from the entrance test. The admission is done only to the notified vacancies.
