1. M.Sc in Applied Plant Science

The candidates with a B.Sc degree of this University with Botany (main/core) or Plant Science (main/core) or an equivalent degree of any other University with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade for Part III (excluding subsidiaries) will be considered for admission. The mode of admission will be based on the entrance examination conducted by the University. A total of 25 seats are available. The duration of the course shall be two years from the date of commencement of the course. MSc Applied plant Sciences is equivalent to MSc Botany and the students who have successfully completed the course  will be given equivalency certificate along with the MSc Applied Plant Sciences certificate.

2. M.Phil in Botany

Candidates who wish to join M.Phil programme shoul have  secured Masters degree in Botany/Plant Science with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7 point scale (or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever grading system is followed). An entrance test will be conducted for the registered candidates. A minimum of 40% marks in the entrance test is necessary to qualify for admission  . The rank list will be prepared according to the percentage of marks/grades obtained in the entrance test alone. UGC-CSIR - JRF Fellowship holders will be exempted from Entrance Test and one seat will be reserved for JRF holders. Currently, the department offers nine seats for MPhil admission. The duration of the M.Phil., course shall be two consecutive semesters/one year from the date of commencement of the course.

3. Ph.D. in Botany

Candidates who have qualified MSc Botany/Plant Science offered by the University of Calicut or any other University with at least grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale or equivalent or at least 55% marks are eligible for admission. Candidates who have passed M.Phil. degree with a minimum of grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale with at least 55% marks in aggregate or it's equivalent is also eligible to take the admission. Admission to PhD is based on an entrance examination conducted by the University. The ranking would be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and a subsequent interview for the candidates who qualified the entrance examination. The final admission decision will be based on an overall performance. Candidates who qualify UGC-NET/JRF, UGC-CSIR-NET/JRF, SLET, GATE, and other research fellowships of Central and State Government departments/ agencies as approved by the University will be exempted from the entrance test. The admission is done only to the notified vacancies.
